September 9th was the registration day for 2017 freshman of ZUST. Prof. Gong Jianli, Secretary of Party Committee of ZUST and Prof. Ye Gaoxiang, President of ZUST and the accompanying staff of related functional departments welcomed new arrivals and expressed greetings to them. They also visited their dormitories and talked with the freshmen and their parents face to face.
In this year, over 4,100 freshmen and 153 postgraduates from 24 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) joined the big family of ZUST. The majors of 50 academic masters and 103 professional masters covered 20 secondary disciplines and two professional degrees.
In the dormitories of postgraduates, Prof. Gong and Prof. Ye shook hands with the students and inquired about their subject orientation and goals. The university leaders introduced ZUST orientation and characteristics, graduate training system, guarantee measures and incentive policies to them. They also encouraged the students to set ambitious goals, study diligently and make achievements under the guidance of their supervisors.
In the dormitories of undergraduates, the university leaders chatted amicably with freshmen and patiently answered their questions about their major subject choice, and their planning and impressions of ZUST. They also introduced the characteristics of ZUST and university life to freshmen and their parents. They hoped the students would adapt themselves to college life as soon as possible, cherish the good environment, study hard and actively participate in various associations and societies to promote their abilities.
During the orientation and dormitory visits, the leaders offered guidance and suggestions about the freshman registration work and instructed the relevant departments and colleges to keep comprehensive oversight of freshman enrollment, food quality and accommodation. They also suggested giving consideration to ethnic minority students’ national customs and habits, providing more tailored and attentive service to special needs students. During the visits, more than 10 students received gifts from the leaders, as their birthdays were on that day.
