On June 17th teachers and students from the Confucius Institute at Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca，Romania，were invited to attend the first awarding ceremony of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship and to the 2017 reception for Chinese teachers and students in Romania held by the Chinese Embassy in Romania. One teacher and five students from this Confucius Institute won the scholarship this year. They were awarded prizes and certificates by the Chinese Ambassador to Romania, Mr. Xu Feihong.
Ambassador Xu said that Chinese learning enjoyed great popularity in Romania as China and Romania had furthered bilateral relationship and cooperation in all fields. He was convinced that Romanian students who were learning Chinese now would have a broader space to display their talents. The main goal of the long-term scholarship was to encourage Romanian students to learn Chinese and to warmly welcome as many young people as possible to join the growing ranks of Chinese language speakers of other languages, and to become successors and heirs of the friendship between China and Romania.
At the awards ceremony, students from the Confucius Institute at Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca performed traditional Chinese cross-talk “Vocal music Enlightenment” and dancing “Ode to the Lotus Flower”, which fully displayed their proficiency in Chinese and deep understanding of Chinese culture.
