The Closing of the 36th ZUST Sports Meeting

On the afternoon of November 3rd, the 36th ZUST sports meeting was closed. University leaders attended the closing ceremony and awarded prizes to the winning units. Heads of functional departments and schools also participated.
Since the opening of the sports meeting this April, teaching staff and students respectively competed in a total of 26 group events and track and field sports. The basketball tournament was newly set up this year.
The track and field sports meet was held from November 2nd to 3rd on both Xiaoheshan and Anji campuses. Moreover, the 5th fun sports meeting was successfully held among university faculty.
At the opening ceremony of the track and field games on the morning of Nov. 2rd, the square teams of representatives from different schools and institutes, postgraduates, foreign students and the teaching staff stepped into the playground in turn. They presented unique features of each group. The presentation was spectacular and fascinating. In the Xiaoheshan opening ceremony, a colorful helicopter slowly landed in the center of the playground after performing a beautiful air show,which delightfully highlighted the whole opening ceremony.
In this sports meeting, the foreign student Md Al Shahorirt from the School of Information broke the university record with his 11.0 seconds in men’s 100-meter dash. Meanwhile, another foreign student Fabien DuFour from the School of Humanities and International Education also bettered the university record with his 17.35.56 seconds in men’s 5000-meter race.
According to the comprehensive records, three schools stood out among the others in the total score of the track and field group events. They were the School of Economics and Management, the School of Information and Electronic Engineering and the School of Biological & Chemical Engineering/School of Light Industry. In the teachers’ group events, logistics department, administration offices and the School of Science won the top three prizes.
