On the morning of April 12
th
, ZUST held the unveiling ceremony of the “China Competence Center” in the Sino-Germany Cooperation Pavilion. Prof. Ye Gaoxiang, President of ZUST and Prof. Feng Jun, Vice-President of ZUST, attended the ceremony. More than 20 experts and professors from partner institutions in Germany, heads of relevant departments, deans of schools and representatives of relevant teachers and students participated in the ceremony as well.
President Ye Gaoxiang delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, extending his congratulations for the establishment of the “China Competence Center” in ZUST. He said that for more than thirty years, with the joint efforts of German and Chinese governments and the insightful people from education, science and technology industries, ZUST has formed good cooperative relations with 25 German colleges and universities. ZUST has sent 1400 students to Germany for further study and accepted 965 German students to study here. In addition, more than 1000 foreign students from another 120 countries and regions come to study in ZUST each year. He pointed out that the establishment of the “China Competence Center” would surely make a dramatic contribution to the cultivation of foreign students here and to fostering international communication.
As the representative guest of the unveiling ceremony, Ms Reith, the deputy director of the International Office in Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, pointed out in her speech that the increasingly close cooperation between China and Germany can be even better developed by reinforcing mutual understanding. The innovative practice of the “China Competence Center” is accessible to the World and is instrumental in promoting a better understanding and cooperation between the two sides.
According to the introduction, the “China Competence Center” will first open to foreign students studying in ZUST, especially German students, and provide them with serial theoretical and practical courses within the domain of Sinology. Responding to the strategic demand of “The Belt and Road Initiative” by the Chinese government and the “Chinese Strategy” policy by the Germany Scientific and Cultural Department, the “China Competence Center” is aimed to foster international talents who are familiar with and friendly to China and successful in their own field’s learning.
