German Chancellor Merkel Interviewed by ZUST Reception Team at G20 Summit

In order to provide a better reception for the G20 Summit delegates in Hangzhou, ZUST was assigned the role of Zhejiang concierge reception unit with the honor of exclusively receiving the German Delegation. ZUST set up a reception team with 16 members led by university vice president Prof. Zheng Youqu. Their meticulous attention to the overall situation, careful preparation and dedicated service won ZUST high acclaims from both German VIPs and the local preparatory committee of G20 summit.

On September 4th, German Chancellor Angela Merkel graciously granted an interview to Prof. Zheng and his team at the Hyatt Hotel in Hangzhou. On behalf of ZUST, Prof. Zheng presented Chancellor Merkel an elaborate loving portrait of herself as well as a gratitude letter with the signatures of student representatives in the Sino-German joint education programs. Chancellor Merkel expressed her appreciation of the 30-year record of achievements in Sino-German cooperation at ZUST, and took group photos with the reception team.

On the day before Chancellor Merkel’s interview, ZUST president Prof. Ye Gaoxiang had the honor to pay a special visit to Shi Mingde, China’s ambassador to Germany, and reported to him on ZUST’s history and achievements in Sino-German cooperation, and expressed his sincere aspirations for even closer ties in the future. Prof. Zheng also visited Peter Rothen, the German consulate general in Shanghai.
