The 2016 National College Students' Speech Competition drew to a successful close on May 22nd with the ZUST delegation winning first prize in team competition. Members of the ZUST delegation included Mohammadrasoul Mohammadi from Iran, Laura Mihaela Fenesan from Romania and Dheya Ali Abdo Sharaf from Yemen. In individual competition, Mohammadi and Laura both won the first prize and Dheya won the third prize. Congratulations Mohammadi, Laura and Dheya!
Focusing on the contemporary theme of “Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, this competition required contestants to give a thematic speech on “Innovating and Sharing”. More than 120 contestants from over 40 universities such as Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shandong University, and Communication University of China competed in this event.
In group competition, ZUST contestants made a round-robin six-minute thematic speech on the topics of “Innovation Makes Dreams Come True”, “Learn from the Good Examples of ‘Handsome Songs!’” and “The Entrepreneurial Dream of Young Yemeni Ade”. After entering the final, they steadily improved their performances and won many individual awards.
Ever since ZUST took part in the National College Students’ Speech Contest in 2008 for the first time, international students who have potential are discovered and trained through various events such as speeches, recitation and debates with the cooperation of the College Students Cultural Quality Education Base, the Office of Educational Administration, the School of Humanities, and the International Student Affairs Center. ZUST delegations have won many prizes continuously, as in the National College Students' Speech Contest, the National College Students Poetry Recitation Contest, the Chinese Classic Recitation Contest in Zhejiang Province, the Zhejiang Promotion Ambassador of Mandarin, the Zhejiang College Student Speech Contest, and so on.
