ZUST Delegation Led by Wang Jianhua Visited Africa

On Nov. 25th-Dec. 3rd, Prof. Wang Jianhua, Chairman of University Council, led a delegation to Africa. The delegation visited four universities, including the University of Zambia, Copperbelt University, the University of Cape Town in South Africa and the Stellenbosch University in South Africa, and discussed over the issues of student and faculty exchange, and research collaboration. The visit achieved fruitful results and further strengthened our cooperation with African universities, laying a good foundation for promoting full cooperation with African universities.

In Zambia, the delegation visited the University of Zambia and talked in-depth with Professor Mick Sikaenyi Mwala, Vice President of the University of Zambia, about student exchange, double degree program for computer science majors, postgraduate education and teacher exchange program. They also visited the library, computer labs and the Confucius Institute in Zambia University. After the meeting, the two parties signed the agreement of student exchange project.

The delegation exchanged ideas with Professor Kashimike A. Musaba, Vice President of Copperbelt University, on the issues of student and faculty exchange and academic research collaboration. The two parties sign an MOU after the meeting.

In South Africa, the delegation visited the Cape Town University, which ranks No. 1 in Africa and No. 139 in the world, and held a meeting with Professor Danie Visser, the vice president of the university. They exchanged views on postgraduate education cooperation and exchange, faculty exchange, English teacher PhD program, the Confucius Institute volunteer selection, and new media research cooperation. An MOU was signed after the meeting. This is the first time that Cape Town University cooperated with a non 211 university in China. The delegation also visited the Confucius Institute and talked with the Chinese director on the internship program for masters of International Chinese Language Education.

During the visit to Stellenbosch University, the two parties talked about the joint English teacher PhD program. The delegation visited the library, student dormitory and the botanic garden in Stellenbosch University.
